((Okay, so her story's not that complex, but it is long.))
Kuri was different. You could usually tell from her uncommonly short hair and clothing that well, didn't seem from the Fire Nation except in color. But her biggest abnormality wasn't on the outside, it was on the inside. What was it? Well, let's find out...
It all started with the day she was born. She was to be born near the birth of an Airbender, the next place in the Avatar cycle, but the Fire Lord and one of his most prestigous generals, Kuri's father, Xiao, wanted different. They wanted a Fire Nation Avatar once more. They brought in spellcasters, doctors, and anyone else you could think of to ensure that Kuri was the Avatar, not the Airbender. It didn't turn out as planned. Something with the medicines and everything went screwy. Kuri, naturally, was not the Avatar, but another effect occured. The brownish marking on her forearm was an ancient symbol for "Immortal". Once it was burned black by royal blood, she would be stuck at that age. Her family was both devastated and proud. "She could be an excellent warrior!" her father boomed.
Fast forward seventeen years. Kuri had become and excellent fire bender and a favorite of teachers, generals, and the Fire Lord himself. The day where she was to be called into battle arrived. It was supposed to be a celebratory day for her, for she was one of few women who would go fight. But it was terrible. That was the day her mark was burned black. The day where she would be set in the age of 17.
Her curse could only be broken if someone from the same bloodline burned her mark tan again.

((Yumi!))
Azula was Ozai's favorite, hands down. It was probably because Azula was, to him, the perfect child. While Zuko wasn't his favorite, he hated Yumi. She was a constant reminder of how he had sacrificed his wife for power. He wanted so badly to banish her, to get her out of his life, but he knew that he would recieve too much criticism for she was too young and he had no true reason to. In turn, Ozai tried his hardest to drum his ways into her, but it never worked. Yumi was to much like her mother.
So, what became of her?
The story starts on a typical day when Yumi was 15, Zuko 13, and Azula 11. Azula badgered Zuko, and Yumi defended him and scolded Azula. Because of these constant happenings, Yumi was very overprotective of Zuko, which made their father furious.
The routine discontinued from this day forth, for Yumi was exiled. "She was damaging Zuko." Ozai claimed.
Yumi was on her own, and she liked it.
